NTI's Mike Edmonds Recognised for Outstanding Contribution to Australian Trucking Industry

NTI is proud to congratulate Mike Edmonds, Executive General Manager – Commercial, for receiving the Australian Trucking Association (ATA) Outstanding Contribution to the Australian Trucking Industry Award.

The award acknowledges a longstanding commitment to improving the trucking industry through the operation or contribution to industry activities.

Mike’s recognition reflects almost three decades of service to the transport and logistics industry, including 25 years in an executive role with NTI, where he has led the organisation’s connection with industry and become one of the most trusted voices across both trucking and insurance.

NTI Chief Executive Officer Janelle Greene said Mike’s contribution is defined by genuine care, practical insight and a deep commitment to the people who keep Australia moving.

“Mike has always understood that transport is more than an industry. It is a community built on hard work, trust and resilience,” she said.

“His contribution has often happened behind the scenes, but its impact has been significant. From safety programs and industry advocacy to mentoring, association partnerships and support for operators, Mike has consistently worked to help build a stronger, safer and more sustainable industry.”

Mike’s career began as a police officer, and he often credits those early years with shaping his empathy, communication skills and calm approach to difficult situations.

His connection to trucking deepened when Ron Finemore took a chance on him early in his transport career. Mike has often said he knew he had found the right industry because trucking was honest, practical and rewarded people who got on with the job.

Mike has played an active role in numerous industry initiatives. He led and helped evolve the TruckSafe Program, played an integral role in the Australian Trucking Associations policy position, and developed communication initiatives to lift the image of the industry in Australia.

At NTI, Mike leads the commercial insurance division, but has also guided the organisation’s association strategy, supported industry partnerships, driven safety initiatives, and represented industry interests across government and the community. 

Mike is a Council Member of the Australian Trucking Association, a Council member of the Australian Logistics Council, and Chair and Director of the Underwriting Agencies Council of Australia.

Mike’s legacy is not only in the programs he has supported or the policy conversations he has influenced. It is in the people he has helped, mentored and encouraged throughout his career.
