Reminder to Review Business Continuity Plan Ahead of Tropical Cyclone Alfred

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology (BoM) hosts multiple weather forecast warnings for Tropical Cyclone Alfred in coming days, likely impacting southern Queensland coast and northern New South Wales. These warnings include heavy to intense rainfall, flooding, and strong to gale force winds.

Weather events can cause serious disruption for business operations. Broker partners are encouraged to check-in with customers operating in impacted areas, and if circumstances safely permit – ask them to consider: 

  • Ensuring the safety and whereabouts of people in the impacted area. 
  • Communicating emergency procedures and key contacts, across the business.
  • Obtaining copies of important business documents, Business Continuity Plan, and backing up files/serves.
  • Moving, storing or securing any vehicles, equipment, machinery, vessels or cargo that may be exposed to this weather event.

In order to expedite claims processing, please share as much information as possible at time of lodgement, including:

  • Clear, detailed images of damaged item if safe to do so.
  • Details of date, time and location the weather event and damage occurred.
