Instead of having Secret Santa, this year the Adelaide office decided to support Backpacks 4 SA Kids.

Backpacks 4 SA Kids provide backpacks filled with clothing, personal supplies and gifts for children in foster care, kinship and domestic violence shelters. Their aim is to relieve uncertainty the children face when they are removed from their family, often in traumatic situations and without the opportunity to take personal belongings with them.

The Adelaide office completed size backpacks in total. These will be given to girls and boys who are two, four and twelve years old. Staff also donated several hundred dollars' worth of toys and gifts for their Christmas appeal.

This year a staff member from the Brisbane Office joined more than 14,000 incredible people across Australia, living on refugee rations during Refugee Week (18-24 June) to raise money and awareness for communities threatened by conflict and disaster.

Money raised during the challenge not only goes towards more food for Syrian Refugees but also towards their education, health car, farming and psychosocial support

Rations during the challenge include:

• 420g Rice
• 170g Lentils
• 85g Dried Chick Peas
• 125g Tinned sardines
• 400g Tinned kidney beans
• 300mL Vegetable oil

During the challenge our saff member raised $900.24.

Staff from our Brisbane office have raised over $2,500 for Can Too over the past 12 months.

Can Too is an organisation that provides funding to young researchers working in Cancer Research.  To obtain the much needed funds, Can Too trains everyday people for events such as swims, triathlons and marathons and the participants fundraise in return for training.
