Scraper Description

A scraper is commonly used in road construction, subdivision development and mining.  There are two common types of scrapers: elevating and open bowl.

Older model scrapers required towing however scrapers are now self-propelled, with some having a front and a rear engine.

Bowl scrapers collect earth by lowering a cutting edge to the ground while moving and scraping until a full bowl is collected for distribution in another area.

Elevating scrapers collect earth by using a chain-type elevator which raises the earth into a chamber for redistribution.

Scrapers work hard and often require a bulldozer to keep them mobile or get them out of a stalled position.  They also sometimes work in tandem.
