NTI's National Truck Accident Research Centre and the Industrial Logistics Institute recently completed a groundbreaking study into the productivity, safety and performance of Heavy Performance Vehicles (HPVs) operating under State Transport permits and the NHVR Performance Based Standards (PBS).
The research confirmed a consistent finding from the NTARC Major Accident Investigation Report series: the bigger they are, the safer they are.
The findings will be used by AustRoads to upgrade infrastructure, as well as allow futher access to heavy axle quad, quin and six axle dog combinations.
Dutch, Swedish, South Korean, USA and Argentinian transport agencies have also sought access to the report in order to consider the findings within their jurisdictions.
