Transforce Bulk Haulage

A truck rollover is not something anyone in the trucking industry ever wants to experience. But when it happened to Transforce Bulk Haulage they were happy to be insured through NTI.
Location: Dubbo, NSW

"It was 9:30 on a Sunday evening when I received the call from the driver," explained Transforce Bulk Haulage Managing Director Steve Fieldus. "His wellbeing was my primary concern of course; thankfully he was ok."

"He was driving a narrow, rough stretch of road that had received a massive downpour of rain not long before he got there. He dropped a wheel off the bitumen; the ground was so soft the next thing he knew he was over and in the table drain. I’ve driven in similar conditions myself so I know how easily these things can happen."

"All it took for me to get things sorted was one phone call to NTI Accident Assist," Steve said. "They made the driver their number one priority. They got a nurse to phone him and she established whether he was injured and how he was coping. Once she was sure he was alright she called me and let me know."

"At the same time as this was going on NTI notified the relevant local authorities about the accident so they could take action. NTI arranged for a tow truck driver and recovery crew to head to the site. My driver wanted to stay with the truck until it was removed so the tow truck driver sat with him all night – you couldn’t ask for better than that."

NTI understands the importance of efficiently managing the scene of an accident. One phone call to NTI Accident Assist at any hour of the day or night is all that is needed.

NTI can then provide over-the-phone trauma assistance, relay urgent messages to loved ones, arrange to transport the driver back to base, authorise the vehicle’s recovery, oversee the clean-up of the accident, lodge the claim automatically and more.

"We’ve made several claims with NTI over the years and we’ve never had any problems," Steve added. "They act immediately, they make it easy and they do everything they possibly can to get the truck back on the road fast."

"Being insured with NTI offers real peace of mind. As I said, I received the call from the driver at 9:30pm. I was back in bed an hour and a half later; I could relax and go to sleep because I knew that NTI had everything covered."

Transforce Bulk Haulage carries grain, feed, fertilizers and other bulk products anywhere between Townsville and Melbourne. The business, which was established in 1999 in Dubbo NSW, is owned and operated by Steve Fieldus.

Transforce operates 14 trucks at present; they are predominantly Kenworths with a couple of Internationals and one new Mack. The fleet has been insured with NTI "since day one".

"Being a member of TruckSafe tells our customers they are dealing with a safe and responsible operation," Steve said. "Our membership is also valued by NTI; they work with us to help create safer roads for drivers."
