The Jonesway fleet is large – they have more than 60 vehicles in total – but every vehicle counts. So when an accident happens, Managing Director Steve Jones, like all transport operators, is keen to get the damaged vehicle back on the road as soon as possible.
"We’ve been insured with NTI for around 18 months now," Steve explained. "City Panel Beaters Truck Repairs is an NTI Premium Repairer so we get all our work done through them."
"Many benefits come from doing this but the main one for us is that there is no more waiting. City Panel have automatic authorisation from NTI to start repairs as soon as any NTI-insured truck arrives on their premises."
"Before NTI, we could wait for days, sometimes weeks, before a repair would commence."
Steve also likes NTI’s straightforward claims process. "As soon as an accident happens all we have to do is phone NTI and they take care of everything," he said. "We can be thousands of kilometres from our Perth depot, but that’s not a problem."
Jonesway Transport operates two divisions. The general transport division moves everything from site huts, shipping containers, tractors, forklifts, backhoes and excavators to and from major construction and mining sites. The house transport division specialises in moving concrete and steel based houses and buildings to remote aboriginal communities throughout the outback in Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territory, and to Pilbara mining centres such as Karatha and Port Hedland. Jonesway Transport recently started transporting houses to various island communities off the northern coast of Australia.
"We’ve repaired trucks and equipment for NTI for as long as I can remember and had no hesitation in becoming a Premium Repairer when NTI started the scheme," said City Panel Beaters Truck Repairs Managing Directors Carlo Rossi and Rob Patriarca Carlo said.
"What I like about NTI is that they are streamlining claims-processing and raising standards in the trucking repair industry. They also recognise that there are very good repairers out there and they’re keen to partner with those repairers and then allow them the freedom to get on with what they do best – repairing trucks to very high standards, quickly and with a minimum of fuss.
"NTI staff are very astute and I think this stems from the fact that many of them have been involved with trucks and trucking in some capacity before joining NTI. They have a very good understanding of our industry and they appreciate the unique issues and challenges we face."
